It Takes a Forest is an initiative in partnership with local communities and organizations with a common goal of providing the public with fact-based information on the role of our forests as one of Canada's most sustainable resources.

Our Take Root program is a community-powered initiative, providing residents access to low- or no-cost native trees for their homes and neighbourhoods.

The United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (the Decade) is dedicated to the protection, conservation, and revitalization of ecosystems worldwide.

Shared Pathways, a Forests Canada program, provides dedicated support for First Nations communities and organizations in creating spaces for sharing their stories, restoring connections to land through ecological restoration, and highlighting the importance of working in a collaborative relationship.  

The Heritage Tree Program shares stories of some of Ontario’s unique trees. Launched in 2009 in partnership with the Ontario Urban Forest Council, the program focused on bringing awareness to the social, cultural, historical and ecological value of trees.
