Afforestation Guide for Southern Ontario

Forests Canada is proud to have played a key role in the creation of a new Afforestation Guide for Southern Ontario from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).

The result of a collaborative effort from forestry experts and highly skilled practitioners, the Guide acknowledges the valuable involvement of the MNRF, Forests Canada, Conservation Authorities, private consultants, nurseries, and academic and research institutions, among others. It is expected that this Guide will be particularly useful to Ontario’s tree planting delivery agencies, especially when onboarding new staff or taking on new project types.

Forests Canada congratulates Guide coordinators and contributors who were recognized at our 2022 Annual Conference, including:

  • Eric and Barb Boysen, presented with the Robert de Pencier Award for their outstanding activities in private land forest management,
  • Al Corlett, along with several of his former NDMNRF colleagues, presented with the 2022 Forests Ontario Award for the creation and delivery of the Ontario Tree Marking Program, and
  • Rick Knapton, of Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, presented with the Most Valuable Planter Award.
