Membership Program Shift FAQ
How can I support the organization moving forward, if you don’t have membership?
We truly value the support of all our members. We welcome all of our members to continue to support our vision and mission through a donation. All donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Please also consider becoming a monthly donor here: https://forestscanada.ca/en/product/donation, or you can choose to make a one-time donation using the same link or by connecting with Brooke McClelland at bmcclelland@forestscanada.ca or (416) 646-1193 x. 350.
How can I make sure to stay up-to-date with Forests Canada?
Rest assured that we are committed to keeping our members engage and involved during this transition period and beyond, through other avenues and areas of our work. We invite you to subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter here to ensure that you don’t miss a thing! You can also follow us on our Social channels:
What happens if I have already renewed my membership for the upcoming year?
We value all our members and appreciate your past support. If you have already renewed your membership for the year, you will still get the membership benefits through 2026, however your membership will not be renewed after that.
When will membership officially change?
Forests Canada will be holding its Annual General Meeting in February 2026 where the change will be presented to membership for approval. More details regarding the AGM will be shared with the membership in the new year.
What do I do if my membership is set to renew between now and the Annual General Meeting?
We value all our members and appreciate your past support. If you would like to continue your support of Forests Canada, you can either renew your subscription, or you can choose to make a donation in lieu of your membership, which you will receive a charitable tax receipt for. If you would like to do this, please connect with Brooke McClelland at bmcclelland@forestscanada.ca or (416) 646-1193 x. 350 and she would be happy to make that transition for you. If you choose to cancel your membership, you can also connect with Brooke to do so.
Will I still get Our Forest Magazine?
Members in good standing as of the Annual General Meeting in February 2026, will receive the Spring/Summer 2026 issue of Our Forest magazine. This will be our last issue of the magazine.
I am part of the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Plan (MFTIP), will this have an effect on my managed forest plan?
No. Forests Canada membership has no bearing on your MFTIP plan.
Will you still have the Annual Conference?
Forests Canada is known as an organization that brings people together. As we have transitioned into a national organization, we have been in conversations with groups across the country to talk about many important issues. Whether that be with government, other non-profit organizations, or indigenous communities, we are seeing a need from the people we are speaking with, and at this moment we are taking a step back in 2026 to ensure that we can put on an event that better serves and meets the needs of groups across the country. We will not be having a conference in 2026, but will resume in 2027.
