Forests Ontario extends a warm welcome to Martin Streit. Martin joins the team as a Forestry Specialist, in charge of running the Ontario Tree Marking Course in collaboration with the
Canadian Institute of Forestry.
Martin is a Registered Professional Forester who has worked for thirty-five years in eastern Ontario. He recently retired from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Previously, he worked 10 years at Domtar in Cornwall. Martin has experience in the management of Crown land, community forests and private land, and worked a Planting Delivery Agent for Forests Ontario for five years.
Along with his new role with Forests Ontario, Martin works part-time for South Nation Conservation Authority, and at his own business, Upper Canada Forestry Service. He has been a long-standing supporter of the Eastern Ontario Model Forest, Forests Ontario and the Ontario Woodlot Association and an instructor for the tree marking course.
Martin and his wife Penny own a woodlot in Dundas County where they have had over 18,000 trees planted, primarily through Forests Ontario's 50 Million Tree Program. In their spare time Martin and Penny enjoy snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing, camping, kayaking and hiking the 48 4000-foot peaks of New Hampshire.
