Enbridge Gas’ support of Forests Canada is just one example of how they are taking measures towards creating a more sustainable future by investing and partnering locally. Throughout our ten-year partnership, Enbridge has supported forest restoration and education efforts designed to help support diverse, resilient, thriving forests including the planting of 37,500 trees through Forests Canada’s planting programs.
These trees will grow into healthy forests that will reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, create habitat and travel corridors for birds and wildlife, and boost biodiversity – all while enriching recreational activities and supporting the economy of local communities. Since 2014, Enbridge has also been a supporter of our community and education programs including Ontario Envirothon, Community Tree Plant and Reconciliation Community Tree Plant. Through our Ontario Envirothon program, Forests Canada offers budding environmental leaders a chance to explore education and career paths in the natural sciences and network with potential mentors. Overall, Forests Canada’s learning programs have connected with over 50,000 students, parents, educators and volunteers in more than 500 communities. In recognition of their long-term support and commitment, Enbridge Gas was presented the Green Legacy Award at the 2024 Forests Canada Annual Conference. The Green Legacy Award is presented to a visionary corporate partner that is instrumental in supporting and promoting environmental awareness for future generations.
Forests Canada would again like to thank Enbridge for supporting our belief that healthy and vibrant communities include diverse, thriving forests, and that working together is the means to that end.
