We are excited to welcome Rebecca Pearce-Cameron, the new Grasslands Restoration Coordinator, to Forests Ontario. In this role, Rebecca manages and supports multiple Grasslands Ontario programs and projects.

Rebecca grew up in Hamilton. Her work with the Ontario Ranger Program in her late teens introduced her to environmental conservation as a career path. She pursued a Bachelor of Science from Trent University specializing in sustainable agriculture, followed by a specialization in applied agriculture from Fleming College. Rebecca has used her education to connect agriculture and conservation, firm in her belief that they are not mutually exclusive. Since then, Rebecca has applied her passion to combine agriculture and conservation at her various jobs, including working on farms and on native seed production.

Rebecca’s adolescent admiration for agriculture put her on her path to working with Forests Ontario. Her fascination with ecology, climate, the living systems of soil, and native seeds led her to grasslands conservation. When Forests Ontario advertised an opening for a Grasslands Restoration Coordinator, she couldn’t refuse the opportunity. Rebecca has always admired the work Forests Ontario does through its programs and initiatives, such as It Takes A Forest and Grasslands Ontario, and now she is thrilled to contribute her own passion for conservation and restoration to that mission.

In 2020, Rebecca gave birth to a beautiful boy. When she isn’t working or changing diapers, you can find her hiking, birding, canoeing and cross-country skiing with her family.
