Peter is one of the most recent members of the FO team, joining us on April 15th of 2019.  In his short time here, he has already made an awesome impression and has been such an amazing addition to the team!

Peter has a lot of different roles here in the Forests Ontario office, but he works primarily with editing for our quarterly magazine Our Forests.  He also manages anything and everything surrounding any of Forests Ontario’s many publications!   He works hard day in and day out to strengthen the quality of content Forests Ontario produces to ensure our message gets across as effectively as possible.

Peter worked for thirty years as a journalist, twenty of which he spent working for the National Post.  In fall of 2017 he left his job with the National Post and enrolled as a Masters of Forest Conservation with the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Toronto.  He focused his studies on the relationship between forest health and human health, and even had a paper on the subject published in the Walrus. Peter graduated in June, 2019.

Peters favourite part of his job is having the opportunity to work, collaborate, and learn from the other amazing, intelligent, and inspiring staff here at Forests Ontario.

Peter grew up in Quebec where he would make maple syrup as a kid.  Now he owns his own forest with his wife in Madoc Ontario where he harvests maple syrup every spring! This year he harvested 16 litres!  In his spare time you can find Peter managing his forest, reading or camping!

On a rainy day in June, Peter Kuitenbrouwer graduated from the Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto, with a Master of Forest Conservation. “Rain,” he remarked, “is good for the trees.”
