We are thrilled to welcome Joana Carreira, our new Communications Assistant, to the Forests Ontario team! Joana will assist us in developing and scheduling Forests Ontario’s social media content, writing and editing articles for our website and Our Forest magazine, and supporting other communications efforts.

Joana was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, and completed her B.A at Wilfrid Laurier University in Honours English and Women and Gender Studies. She is currently completing the Professional Writing and Communications post-graduate program at Humber College. Prior to joining our team, Joana worked as a tutor, camp supervisor, and customer service representative. She is intrinsically involved in representing, preserving, and developing Portuguese Culture through various community and youth activities throughout the GTA.

Forests Ontario’s pillars of forest education and restoration drew Joana to the organization. Joana is excited to help advance the organization’s mission to create a greener, healthier Ontario.

In her free time, Joana enjoys watching superhero movies, cultivating her book collection, listening to her records, and playing with her boisterous dog Duke.
