Engineering firm Smith + Andersen hosted its ninth “Eco Jam” on April 17th, 2025, at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, with another sold-out show! This benefit rock concert is Smith + Andersen’s annual event to celebrate Earth Month and not only highlights the incredible musical talent hidden within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry but also the importance of sustainability and conserving Canadian forests.

Since its inception in 2013, Eco Jam has contributed to the planting of over 60,000 trees across the country through Forests Canada’s Planting Program. Year-over-year, Eco Jam has raised an astonishing amount of funds, and this year was no different, with a groundbreaking $75,000 raised, surpassing last year's amount of $60,000! This year’s donation will go towards the planting of 18.75 acres of new forests, bringing their total to 75 acres of trees planted across Canada. To put this in perspective, their contribution is roughly 54 times the size of the University of Manitoba's Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, a Smith + Andersen project.

“We at Smith + Andersen are very proud to partner with Forests Canada and continue to donate all the proceeds from this event towards tree planting initiatives across the country,” said Brad Bull, Principal at Smith + Andersen. “This year, the event sold out in the quickest time ever. It took five days. There is huge support in this industry. I'm monstrously blown away by the talent, the courage, everything I see on display when I come here. Our sponsors were incredible this year and the bands all raised money tirelessly.”

Eco Jam continues to be a standout celebration of community, music, and environmental action, turning the volume up on a healthier future. We are incredibly thankful for the generous support of Smith + Andersen and all the bands and attendees at this year’s event– it is our corporate sponsors, partners, and donors whose environmental leadership enables us to help conserve, restore, and grow Canada’s forested landscapes.
